This is an instant Kuzukiri of Sasaya Iori in Kyoto. Just like Tokoroten, but Kuzukiri is made of Kuzu (herb) and eaten with brown sugar syrup. Tokoroten is made of Kanten (sea weed) and eaten with vinegar, soy sauce and mustard (sometimes with Aonori, sea weed) . Both are hallmarks of Japanese cold jelly sweets in the Summer.

Thousands of people gather to see famous fireworks festivals such as Sumida River Fireworks Fes., Tokyo Bay Grand Fireworks Fes. and Jingu Fireworks Fes. in Tokyo. Very Luckily, we can see them at home without crowds. Also we have a huge Bon Dance Festival at the park near our place in late August. People repeat dancing with same action over and over regardless of age and sex. We […]
It’s getting hot and humid in Japan. The average temperature here in summer is around 30 – 35C!! We have to save using the electric power through the year since unexpectedly accident happened at nuclear plants in Fukushima 4 years ago when the great earthquake hit in Japan. We sometimes are patient at home without airconditioner and get sweat a lot if we just move around the room for cleaning. Can you imagine that?? So that, I often have a shower twice a day. At shower time, I use charcoal and clay soap bar and body scrub towel made of Washi, Japanese paper. Charcoals are known to have very strong adsorption […]
